Gadkari’s Green Automotive Vision Union Minister Nitin Gadkari gave an important statement on diesel vehicles at an event in Pune.
Gadkari informed that Diesel vehicles will not be seen in the next five years. In the next five years, you will not see diesel trains, instead, you will see 100% electric buses.
Merit-based selection for Gadkari’s Green Automotive Vision :
He said I started this initiative when I was the Public Works Minister in Maharashtra. At that time there were two secretaries in the department, Mr. Tambe and Mr. Deshpande.
I instructed them to make selections only on merit. Which lead to Gadkari’s Vision for a Green Automotive Future.

When they made the selection, I invited the then Governor, Dr. Alexander. He asked about the selection process. The entire selection process was handled by both my production secretaries.
Mr. Deshpande and Mr. Tambe gave complete information to Alexander. He then approved, and the program concluded with great enthusiasm.
Gadkari’s Green Automotive Vision is a Tribute to Visvesvaraya:
Gadkari recalled Visvesvaraya’s life. Visvesvaraya’s life is an example for engineers. He started working as a deputy engineer in the Public Works Department in Mumbai.
After living in Dhule for some time, he started his career in 1888. He worked in Maharashtra for about 28 years and then moved to Karnataka. He got the opportunity to build many big bridges and dams.
Legacy of Visvesvaraya:
He was an excellent administrator and brilliant engineer. He was committed to development. On his birth anniversary, this is a tribute to him. His inspiration and achievements will definitely inspire engineers, Gadkari added.

Transforming the automobile industry:
The automobile industry is under my control. When I became minister, the automobile industry was of seven lakh crores. Then our rank was seventh, but now we are at third in the world. We have recently It has secured third place, leaving Japan behind.
- The first place is held by America, whose total industry size is Rs 78 lakh crore.
- Second was of China at Rs 44 lakh crore.
- The size of India is now 22 lakh crores.
Call to action for industry growth:
This industry is the largest GST contributor and employs 4.5 crore people. So, I called all automobile industry owners.
Requested them to aim to take the size of our industry to Rs 55 lakh crore in the next five years. I believe that the research of engineers is very important.
I assure you that India will overtake America in the future,” Gadkari concluded.
