Search Reddit Comments

Reddit users can now search for comments easily and refine their searches to find comments in specific communities.

Before today, users had to manually scroll through comments and click on posts to find the right answer to their query.

Reddit users can now type a query into the search bar. They can also use the Comments tab to quickly browse through the replies to threads.

Reddit conducted a survey last year and found that the ability to search for comments was the most requested update.

More relevant search results

Reddit has made several changes to the way it returns search results. These adjustments are supposed to make the results more relevant.

Reddit search has the following adjustments:

• Less restrictive: A query that returns 100% doesn’t need to match the content of a post.
• Understanding search intention Reddit will alter how it ranks search results based upon search intent.
• These are the new ranking signals: Reddit search now uses users’ interactions and clicks on search results as a ranking signal.

Reddit also announced how its new user interaction signal works.

“For instance, if you click on the fourth result from a search for “succulents”, then the next time someone searches for the term “succulents”, we will be more likely to display the fourth position in the results.”

A new user experience

Reddit has updated its mobile search results pages with a new design that it claims is simpler.
