As we know, the Paris Paralympics 2024 ended on September 8. We are here to discuss India’s historic campaign.
It won the most medals ever. Indian athletes showcased their phenomenal talent in these Paralympic games. This is the first time in the history of the Para Games that athletes have won more medals than expected. In the last Tokyo Paralympics 2020, India won 19 medals, including 5 gold medals.
In the last Tokyo Paralympics, India sent 54 athletes. This time, a record 84 athletes qualified for Paris. So the Paralympic Committee of India aims for 25 medals from the Paris campaign. But, due to athletes’ hard work and determination, India won a record 29 medals in Paris.
In which athletes got 7 gold, 9 silver, and 13 bronze medals. India finished 18th on the Paralympic medal tally.Â
India got 17 medals in track and field, out of 29. Now India has 60 medals from the Paralympics. Of these, 48 are from the last two editions in Tokyo and Paris.

Indian Paralympics history
Many things happened for the first time in Indian Paralympic history. Avni Lakhera is the first Indian woman to win two golds in consecutive Paralympics. Mariyappan Thangavelu added his name to the list of athletes who won three medals in three successive Paralympic games. Preethi Pal won two bronze medals in a single Paralympics edition.
Sumit Antil, Manish Narwhal, Praveen Kumar, Harvinder Singh, Nishad Kumar, Suhas Yathiraj, Yogesh Kathuniya, Sharad Kumar, and Sundar Singh Gurjar won medals in consecutive Paralympic Games.
We see the best-ever performance by Indian athletes in the Paralympic Games. It is a historic campaign for Team India in Paris. Our athletes showed incredible talent, resilience, and spirit. This made for a record-breaking Paralympic journey. Now India can expect more from our athletes in the upcoming Paralympics. They will perform better.
