This is the first time in The Hundred League that a team defended their title, as the Oval Invincibles beat Southern Bravo by 17 runs. In the final, Southern Bravo won the toss and opened the bowl. As Oval invisibles open to bat, Will Jacks gives them a fury start with 37 runs in 22 balls before getting out by Tymal Mills.
On the other end, David Millan was not able to play a memorable inning in the final match. He scored 7 runs on 11 balls. Sam Curran made a good partnership with Jordan Cox. They both scored 25 runs each.
But Caribbean spinner Akeal Hassan got the wicket of Sam Curran, and Cox got out by Tymal Mills. In the lower batting order, Tom Carran played a responsible knock of 24 runs in 11 balls and gave a competitive target of 148 runs to the Southern Brave.
In the Southern Brave bowling line-up, Tymal Mills and Akeal Hassan both took three wickets each. Two wickets were taken by Jofra Archer, and one wicket went to Chris Jarden’s account.
The Second Inning Southern Bravo
In the second inning of the final, Southern Brave found a terrific start from their openers. Alex Davies and James Vince played very responsibly. Alex Davies scores 35 runs on 23 balls, while James Vince scores 24 on 22 balls. In the middle of the inning, it looked like they had the upper hand in the game, but credit goes to Oval’s bowler, as they made a good comeback for their team.
After opening breakthroughs, the Brave’s middle-order batters flop as their three batsmen didn’t touch the double-digit mark. In the lower middle order, Craig Overton played a good knock of 22 runs on 11 balls, but it was too late for the Southern Brave as they reached 130-7 in 100 balls.
For Oval Invisibles, Saqib Mahmood became the star of the final match as he took three wickets with good economy. Adam Zampa also took two wickets. And one wicket each goes to Nathan Sowter’s and Will Jack’s accounts.
For his remarkable performance, Saqib Mahmood became Player of the Match. For his excellent all-rounder performance in the tournament, Sam Curran became Player of the Series. Last but not least, The Hundred trophy was collected by Invincibles’ captain, Sam Billings.
